Relax Your Voice Box

Problem:
I have noticed that my throat and tongue before, during and after stammering get tensed automatically and pressure exists in my throat, neck, tongue and lips as a result they help stammering to occur more. Of course, it depends on the level of stress as well; simplest things such as meeting new people may increase our stress level and tiniest stress can cause stammering. That's why I don't have any stammer when alone; I've learnt many other people who stammer are like this as well.

Whereas a fluent speaker most often feels no pressure or tense on these areas.

Treatment
So a great practice which helps you speak more fluently and with less stammer is to relax your tongue, lips, neck and throat with each inhale and exhale. So, whenever you'd like to sing, speak or give a presentation remember this and practice it until it becomes a habit.

I'm convinced this is a fundamental technique as no other technique can work without this. No matter how many days you practice singing, or using breathing techniques, etc, without applying this technique there won't be any success.

How to Apply the Treatment
Ok, now you know you should relax your voice box area so how?!

To make this work, you'd have to align 3 areas; Words, Thoughts and Actions

3 Golden tips to become your habit:

1) Say "I Command my voice box to be relaxed" (Words)
"I Command" carries so much power and you'll be amazed that it WILL work.

2) Then IMAGINE that each part of the voice box as mentioned is becoming more relaxed and released from pressure (Thoughts)

3) SMILE, BREATHE and ENJOY! (Action)
