In order to find any possible cure for your stammering or to fight and win it, first you should identify its probable natural negative impacts on yourself.
Degree
The degree and depth in which these negative aspects happen depends on the
- Personality of the PWS (person who stutters)
- Situation in which the stammering has happened and its importance
- Reaction of other people to your stammering
- Frequency of repeat/pressure
Ice Berg:
Stammering impacts are similiar to an Ice Berg. What you see in the surface (action of stuttering) is less than 1/10th of what is going on under the water (feelings, thoughts, etc). Stammering, if remained un-challenged/un-fought, is very painful mentally and physically both.

Negative Aspects:
Possible Feelings:
- Fear
- Embarrassment
- Anger
- Frustration
- Humiliation
- Pain
- Sadness
- Not able
- Lack of self-confidence
- Lack of self-steam
- Depression
Possible Thoughts:
- People might mock me or think I am worthless when I stammer
- People might think I am stupid!
- Stammering avoids me reach my ambitions and goals in life
- Suicide could get me rid of this pain
- I am a failure because I stammer
- I can't be successful in life because I stammer
- I am not worthy of being loved because I stammer
- I can't achieve my goals and dreams because I stammer
- ...
Possible Actions:
- Depression
- Crying
- Isolation
- Avoidance of situations, words, events, people
- Some people quit school, university or their jobs
- I haven't heard anyone really have committed suicide because of his stammer, however, many PWS have thought about this
Observe Yourself:
Now it's time to observe yourself and see what feelings, thoughts and actions you would have with regard to your stammering.
